It’s the Year of the Horse! We love celebrating Chinese New Year as it always involves lots of parties and a lot of food. For the Year of the Horse we are planning a special Chinese New Year Feast ( but no horse meat on the menu 😉 )
Chinese New Year is celebrated for 15 days in the first month of the lunar calendar. In London, the Chinese community celebrate this with a big festival in Trafalgar Square (Sunday 2 Feb) and around London Chinatown. In Malaysian, Chinese New Year is celebrated with a 2 day public holiday and we usually visit family and friends in their homes. It is a Malaysian custom to have an open house where you invite your friends of all races to visit, eat and party. Children love Chinese New Year as they will receive lucky red packets full of money when they visit family and friends.
Since all my transplanted Malaysian friends in London really miss Chinese New Year we usually celebrate with a big feast.
At our Malaysian Chinese New Year Supperclub will serve 8 auspicious courses of Malaysian and Chinese dishes. Â We will definitely have the famous Malaysian New Year dish, Yee Sang, the raw fish salad that is usually only served during Chinese New Year.
Venue: A private home in Putney

Testimonial:Â Here is what one our supperclub guest had to say about our Chinese New Year Supperclub:
“Was at the supper on Friday night – my first one, & I loved it. Great food & company. Really well organised, felt I learned a bit. Arrived in a room of strangers and went home having met new friends. Highly recommended.” Alan
